National Theatre

Võru Theatreatelier is working as a structural part of theVõru House of Culture. Artistic leader is stage director Taago Tubin. The theatre represent a poetic style, combined with music and ligthing as important components, and often uses southestonian (võru) dialect. The basic troup consists of amateurs, bur every production engages also different professionals.

Thre performances “One Times One” 1999, “The Barnpriest” 2001 and” Ennola” 2003 have been awarded grand prix of estonian republican amateur theatre festivals. In 2002 the company represented Estonia at NEARA festival in Sweden with “The Barnpriest”.

The theatre has also an experimental dramastudio, based on technics of contact-improvisation and action-theatre. 

This abstract performance is constructed from improvisations on the themes of soul and soulness.
